Route 66

I decided to drive Route 66 the night my kneecap popped off in the bathroom of the lodge at Camp Wesley Woods. Driving home in the wee hours after a trip to the emergency room, staying awake by rolling the windows down to let in the brisk October air, the delirium of the pain, the oldies on the radio...that's when I officially announced, "I'm going to drive Route 66." I am lucky to have three wonderful, adventurous, history geek friends who are ready to hit the road with me.

We can see you!

So just in the past couple days we've had something like 200+ people visit the blog. They are obviously not a very chatty bunch, but we know they're here. Hello Mr. United Airlines employee! Hello Ms. USDA employee! Good luck, Mr. Oklahoma DOT employee! (I find it somewhat amusing that someone who lives in Oklahoma and actually works for the DOT would need to Google this answer?) Ah well. Maybe one of them will win the million dollars and throw us a fiver or something.

I talked to Ms. Sherrie a couple of days ago. I don't want to steal her thunder, so I'll let her post about her return to Route 66 when she gets back from vacation. It sounds like she's having a great time and I'm quite jealous of her eating experience.

Frankly, your request for us to interact is somewhat of an anomaly. The reaction we usually get by asking a question or seeking help from bloggers or “quiz answer websites” is “get the heck out, and never come back.” But, you folks have taken the proactive approach. You post the answer up front so as to attract the traffic but not to be inundated with the same question over and over by hundreds of treasure hunters.
I was personally so impressed by your setup here, that I registered to start my own blog. Boring stuff to be sure, but I’ll have a blog space now. You see I am an O-Ring consultant by trade and now I will have an O-ring Blog. I’ll gather information to write my first book, “O-rings, the vicious circle”. But I digress.
I have commented on the post with the picture. I can certainly assure you that taking a similar tack and leaving the words to the question on the site, and pointing treasure hunters to the verifiable answer in a post, will draw even more traffic. (run on sentence). But alas, they will likely not be very chatty either, as they (for the most part), don’t want to upset the regulars here.
It has been a pleasure reading about your adventures and seeing ALL your wonderful photos. I shall return,

Best Wishes,

Jim
